- This guide has been put together by a teacher for
- teachers to give them a valuable understanding in
- using Archimedes computers. It explains in simple
- terms the important ideas, procedures and various
- parts of the computer. “Working in the desk top” is
- a critical chapter and the ideas conveyed must be
- tried out experimentally. Spare discs with copies
- of various applications and files should be “played”
- with again and again so as to gain confidence and
- experience.
- The twin guide “Of Mouse and Child” has been put
- together as a working guide, when using popular
- Archimedes applications in the classroom, and is
- useful for both teachers and children.
-
- The guide has been written assuming that you
- have a “Start” disc which has a system directory,
- scrap directory and a printers application on and
- separate discs for each application complete with
- their support material.
- It has been written for floppy disc computers
- such as the A3000 but, if there is interest, it
- could be rewritten as a separate document for
- hard disc systems.
- If you are unsure of how the floppy discs
- have been organised and would like to follow
- the same system, please do contact me.
